The winter and the beginning of the spring were relatively mild. In April and in May, temperatures dropped (a wave of frost in mid-April). Flowering went off without any problem in June. The month of July was fresh at the beginning and then warm at the end. In August, storms broke out which gave rise to irregular yields when the harvest took place. It was then that human intervention proved how important it can be. At Louis Max, the harvest underwent very strict sorting. The appearance of the wines is attractive, clear and brilliant. On the nose, aromas of black fruit develop (black cherry, blackberry). On the palate, they are well structured and very harmonious.

The nose is characterised by hints of citrus fruit with some floral touches. In the mouth, they are very aromatic and present a remarkable balance between acidity, roundness and freshness.
An undisputedly great vintage. The climatic conditions were excellent, with a dry winter, a generally fine and warm spring, a summer without excessive heat and a month of September which was ideal for both the grape pickers and the grapes. Indeed, September was dry, bright and sunny. Consequently, the grapes were able to reach a high degree of maturity and their sanitary condition was excellent. And the sun was present for the work of the grape pickers. Their appearance is fine and brilliant, the hue a beautiful, clear red. The nose is rich and complex, bringing together many red fruit aromas. Complex and rich, with a discreet oakiness and very noble tannins, it promises a fine potential for ageing.

This is a vintage which shows off all the richness of the great white wines of Burgundy.
The year 2003 was marked by drought and the sun from February to September, with the exception of the month of April when there were hailstorms. The harvest was particularly early, beginning around 20th August. Yields were low. The appearance is deep and brilliant with a purple-tinted hue. On the nose, we can smell aromas of very ripe fruit. On the palate the wines are rich, well balanced, with ripe tannins and perfect length.

The 2004 vintage will remain in people's memories as a good surprise. That of a warm, dry and sunny month of September, which enabled us to produce a fine harvest and gave birth to very fruity wines, full of finesse. The harvest 'banns' were published on dates which are normal for our region, beginning in mid-September for the vineyards of the south of Burgundy. The volume of the harvest was above the average of the last five years. The colour is very lively and quite light. The aromas are a fine example of very fresh red fruit, and the structure has a lot of finesse, with round tannins, a lingering fruitiness and a slight oakiness. A vintage full of finesse.

The 2005 vintage offers Burgundy some truly great white wines, with exceptional richness and finesse, and superb red wines, full of structure and charm. The very high quality of the wines obtained is above all the result of very ripe grapes in perfect sanitary condition. At the time of harvest, the Chardonnay presented fine golden bunches, well formed and full of sugar. The 2005 vintage possesses a lot of class and promises some interesting revelations for consumers. The appearance is very intense and bears the mark of the fruit. A pleasant, fruity attack which evolves into a very rich, very typical palate. The finish is long and lingering.

We can find a perfect balance between the liveliness and the fruity structure. This fruity, woody character has already softened up, but the structure remains, together with a fine length.
2006 is a charming vintage, excellent for whites and surprising for reds, that did nevertheless require constant attention, be it in the vineyards or in the cellars. The September sun triggered sudden ripening of grapes that had been slow to mature in August. Harvest management decisions such as when to pick and when to vinify were highly critical. They show beautiful, intense colours. Some wines came out as fine and elegant, others fleshier with more body, characteristics of good ageing potential. Aromas flirt with red fruits, spices and cacao.
